Chris CV Info

Chris Lambert

Chris began his journey through sound at the age of 16 when he left his home of Norwich, Norfolk to join the Royal Marines Band Service in Portsmouth. After growing up playing music in many of the county ensembles, Chris was offered a place to study Bassoon under Professor Chris Gayle at the Royal Marines School of Music. After successfully passing out of training, he was posted to RM Band Commando Training Centre, with whom he would tour extensively with the band and also undertake a tour of duty in Afghanistan on Op Herrick 14, in support of 3 Commando Brigade. Following this, he was posted to the Royal Band, in Portsmouth and after a few years of playing around the world with the band, he became more and more interested in the audio engineering element of the band. This is where it all began! Under the guidance of Andy Deacon, training began in earnest both out on the road and back in the Royal Marines state of the art recording facility in Portsmouth.

After a couple of years, Chris left the Royal Marines Band Service and took up a job at a London based PA Hire company, where he carried on building upon his earlier training. This was where he met Kev Duff, who offered him the chance to transfer over into broadcast sound as a trainee under him. Chris then found himself on the studio floor, getting trained by Kev’s team on all aspects of TV Studio sound. Working on shows such as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV), The Voice UK BBC then ITV) and RBL Festival of Remembrance (BBC).

Chris then added Post Production to his little book of learning as Kev began teaching him all aspects of audio post production, in which Chris now assists with all in house dubbing projects.

Chris has also gained experience working as a part of the P.A crew at several large scale music events, such as the 2017 Glastonbury Festival, where he worked as part of the team on the Pyramid Stage. In addition to this he worked on the stage for the 2017 Raymond Gubbay Classical Spectacular in the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has recently returned from spending the week in Plymouth with the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, Plymouth where he was taking the recording session for their latest album, due out in the summer.
